Horrible experience. I have submitted numerous WORD. DOCX files in Italian and sought translations to American English. The program accepts the file, scans and “translates” BUT when I open the new version it’s still in Italian. Their help support is useless, they give you a number and that’s the last you hear from them. The program itself is primitive. If the file contains two languages, say French and Italian, it simply cannot recognize the second language. I had heard that Deepl was a bit better than Google Translate for European languages, but the program just doesn’t work correctly. And if you submit the file for a second attempt, Deepl counts it against your monthly quota. Bad news all around. Date of experience:

The first shortcut is to quickly transfer the highlighted text into the application itself, translate, edit and paste back into any other application. The second shortcut is for translating the highlighted text on the spot. I use both on a daily basis and they work great. The app itself works great on the MacBook Air M1. Well, the main reason is the quality of the translation. I have tried many popular solutions, but DL suited me the best. Sometimes I use this tool just to paraphrase text, as the quality of the generated text is very high. And the speed of the application is amazing. There is a free version, but this is one of the few tools that I pay for with great pleasure to support the developers and further development of the product. Without it, and with rates and expectations being what they are, it would be difficult to work efficiently enough, at least some of the time. Though the product is intended for general use, it really is the gold standard for translators – at least in the languages I work with – in particular due to the easy integration with various CAT tools. For all it offers, the price is more than worth it.
Pros:
DeepL not only produces great output, but it does a great job of parsing and adapting to context. As such, unlike some other tools, it actually helps translators do their jobs better – not just faster. It has improved over time, proving that the machine learning model does work for MT.
Cons:
The desktop client could be a bit more feature-rich and reliable, but it’s certainly not bad – it just seems a bit ‘beta’. Deepl relieved me of the need of finding speakers of languages I do not speak. In fact, I have compared Deepl translations to translations made by professional translators and I must say that I preferred the result of Deepl.
Pros:
In my work I need to read books written in languages I do not understand. Google translation most often yields unintelligible results when one wants to have a literary text translated. Deepl, on the other hand, gives a flawless translation. I found extremely useful the fact that it could translate almost perfectly the most elaborate texts. The translation needed very little corrections afterwards. It is amazing that the translation is so good. Google translation had me convinced that translation is always going to be the domain of human translators. Deepl yields perfect translations in no time, while maintaining the original format too.
Cons:
I became a subscriber the moment I tried it. One feature that could be ameliorated is the fact that one has a limited number of docx files that can be translated per month. There are some months though that I do not use it so much. It would have been nice if I could then use my unused quota. But this is really a minor comment.

It is an application that connects the world and its languages and provides synonyms and multiple words that can be adjusted to the true meaning of what we are trying to express to each other.
Cons:
The only drawback that I have had so far is that it presents failures in the translation from Russian to Spanish or English, making it difficult to understand some sentences.

I used a 30 day free trial and planned to end the trial before this trial was over. However, everytime I go to my DeepL account, I get an empty screen saying something went wrong and I should contact support, so it’s not possible to end my trial. The worst is that the contact file also doesn’t work (tried on multiple browsers and multiple computers). So I had to block my credit card to make sure they cannot charge me when the trial period ends, but I still have no way to contact DeepL to register the termination of the trial Date of experience:
