Based on 75 reviews online

Pros

Verbit is praised for its accurate and timely captioning services, seamless integrations with various platforms, and excellent customer support. Many reviewers appreciate the significant time savings and the variety of formats available for captioning. The service is especially valued in educational and medical institutions for complying with ADA standards and supporting students with disabilities.

Cons

Users have flagged various issues with Verbit, including occasional delays in turnaround times, billing inconsistencies, and usability challenges. Some reviewers have experienced problems with video uploads, integration quirks with other services, and the occasional inaccuracy in captions for speakers with accents or complex terminology. There are also concerns about the user interface being cluttered and not intuitive for newcomers.

Accurate and Timely Captioning

Verbit provides near-perfect and swift captioning for videos, which is highly valued by educational institutions and other organizations.

Occasional Delays in Turnaround Time

Although generally prompt, there can be rare delays in the captioning process which impacts the delivery timeline.

Accuracy is outstanding. As a medical institution, there are a multitude of technical terms. We can provide documentation to Verbit of terminology that the human checkers may not be familiar with, in order to enhance the accuracy of the captioning.
On rare occasions there is a lag in turnaround time for captioning. I am not sure how to resolve this issue, just bringing it to Verbit's attention.

Excellent Customer Support

Verbit is commended for its superb and responsive customer service, ensuring that any issues are resolved quickly.

Billing Issues

There are inconsistencies in billing practices, such as being billed for video silences or getting charged before the expected billing cycle.

Verbit customer service is superb! There is no time that I contact them that my problem is not resolved and in a very timely manner!
There are two things that I dislike and they are 1) quarterly billing is not really quarterly; if you go over what they billed you, they still bill you before the next quarter.

Integration with Other Platforms

The tool's integration capabilities with learning management systems and video platforms are beneficial for seamless operations.

Usability Challenges

Some users find the user interface difficult to navigate, and there are complaints about unclear or complicated processes.

They are also worked with Canvas to provide integration of Verbit with Canvas Studio. This was a game-changer for us!
The UX takes a bit getting used to. I think all of the features are there, but it's not always clear where things are or what they do.

Saves Significant Time

Verbit helps save hours of manual work by providing quick and accurate transcriptions, allowing users to focus on other tasks.

Integration and Upload Issues

Problems have been identified with uploading videos and maintaining stable integrations with other platforms like Vimeo.

Instead of spending time watching and rewatching my videos for captioning, Verbit consistently produced near perfect captioning for all my videos, always getting my files back within a business day.
One downside of using Verbit is sometimes a video will fail captioning, and it is unclear why. It could be the formatting of the video or another reason, but once must do some digging.

Ease of Use

Users find the platform quite user-friendly, with an intuitive interface for uploading, editing, and managing captions.

Inaccuracy with Accents and Specialized Terminology

There are occasional errors in transcriptions, especially when dealing with speakers who have strong accents or use specialized medical jargon.

Overall, this is great for quick closed captioning and accessibility! The timeliness is really efficient, especially when working on videos on a deadline.
They are a top tier service; however, there are times when the speakers' have an accent that the captioning has not always been extremely accurate.

What do you like best about Verbit?
As a highed ed institution, when we provide captioning, it must meet ADA standards, which means a human checks the captioning generate by AI. Generally Verbit provides an excellent turnaround time on captioning. This is especially important when students with accommodations are waiting for a captioned video. Accuracy is outstanding. What do you like best about Verbit?
I first used Verbit during the COVID-19 lockdowns in 2020. My college was required to go fully online with all our classes, and this meant making hours of lecture videos. But to comply with regulations, we needed captions, and properly and accurately captioning a video takes almost double the length of any given video. So, using Verbit saved me hours and hours of time. Instead of spending time watching and rewatching my videos for captioning, Verbit consistently produced near perfect captioning for all my videos, always getting my files back within a business day. Verbit is easy to use as it produces many different file types that are compatible with popular services like YouTube. I don’t know what I would have done without it. I highly recommend it to anyone who quickly needs accurate captions for their videos without any hassle. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What do you dislike about Verbit?
There is nothing about Verbit I dislike. It was easy to learn, easy to use, and super convenient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What problems is Verbit solving and how is that benefiting you?
My college is required to have accurate captions for all videos used in our course lectures. Verbit quickly and easily transcribes captions for videos and saves hours of work per video. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Verbit?
Verbit customer service is superb! There is no time that I contact them that my problem is not resolved and in a very timely manner! I have been a johnny come lately with making requests and they always do their best to accommodate. There has not been even one time that they have not been able to meet the accommodation need. My students have only good things to say about the service and they are always looking to improve the product and services available to partners. Absolutely love my rep, David! Can’t say enough good things about him. Keeps me abreast of new developments and takes my ideas back to the team. Absolutely love the new GenV. I think our students will love its features as well given that it will help them with studying!! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What do you dislike about Verbit?
There are two things that I dislike and they are 1) quarterly billing is not really quarterly; if you go over what they billed you, they still bill you before the next quarter. And 2) If you schedule late and make a mistake it becomes semi-permanent cost-wise. You have to reach out to your rep to get charges removed though you just made the request a minute ago, and you just made a mistake and want to correct it. So be very careful when scheduling late appointments to check and recheck everything! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What problems is Verbit solving and how is that benefiting you?
Verbit captioning has provided our increasing number of students with deafness and hearing impairments access to all of their remote classes. Staff have access to our zoom meetings of which their are many and families and other members of the university community have access to our Town Halls and broad meetings used to disseminate information to the university community. Some of our faculty have used Verbit to caption online conferences sponsored by the university. We have used it for our online Student Orientation Programs and student organizations have used Verbit for remote events and activities. It has been great to see all of our university community included in our online presence. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Verbit?
At Bisk, we have quite a few accounts with Verbit and use it across several departments. The most helpful features for my department, which is Marketing, is being able to rapidly upload, transcribe, and timestamp student testimonials. Verbit’s so easy, and after minimal training anyone on the cross-funtional team can contribute to the ingesting and extraction of useful pieces of the testimoninals to deploy across channels. We use Verbit frequenty, and now even more to access the new AI features. Specifically, we’ve seen a lot of value in the ‘Summarize’ feature that has been surprisingly accurate and useful. The AI tools have been especially easy to integrate into our existing documentaion workflow for student spotlights and testiminals. We havent had a need to interact with Verbit’s Customer Support reps yet, but I suppose that’s a good thing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What do you dislike about Verbit?
I see several areas of opportunity for Verbit. The UX takes a bit getting used to. I think all of the features are there, but it’s not always clear where things are or what they do. The new AI tools have been helpful, but the UI is clunky and it feels like the team may be missing out on features solely because they can’t find them. There are quite a few icons strewn throught the UI and it would be helpful to have them consolidated to a menu, or centralized area, and paired with text to improve the accessibility and usability of the app. Lastly, it’s jarring when a lengthy transcript isnt spaced out in a way that makes it digestible. I think, with the AI integrations, that natual language proccessing can aid in naturally breaking up transcripts into digestible segments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What problems is Verbit solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to rapidly upload, transcribe, timestamp, and summarize student testimonials is relieving teams of tedious, repetive tasks and allowing everyone to spend more time on Bisk’s mission of servicing current and prospective students. Verbit’s AI tools have been essential in streamlining what was once a convulted process passing off transcripts to other teams for summaries, edits, and key highlights. We’ve found it easy to integrate Verbit into existing workflows, creating an effective end-to-end production process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Verbit?
Verbit Live is an excellent service for institutions that need 508 compliant level close captioning for life events, such as college courses and meetings. It has an easy to use interface and excellent tech-support response time the thing I like the most is my students get a simple email link sent to them 30 minutes before their class automatically which allows them to login and see a full page of live streaming captions in real time. They can also download the transcript at any time after their meeting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What do you dislike about Verbit?
if Verbit had an app that the student could use to activate their captions, and thus avoid having to have the instructors need to let the captioner into every session, this would really improve the service. instructors are the biggest barrier to providing consistent captions as they are still too uncomfortable with changing technology. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What problems is Verbit solving and how is that benefiting you?
verbit provides accurate transcription at a 99% level for deaf students at our college. It allows the students to download the transcripts in several formats directly to their computer. It also allows the students to follow, along with the lecture without needing to take notes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Overall

Verbit provides highly accurate and timely captioning services, making it a valuable tool for educational and medical institutions that need ADA-compliant captions. Its robust customer service, seamless integrations with various platforms, and significant time savings are repeatedly highlighted in reviews. However, there are occasional delays in turnaround times and billing inconsistencies. Some users report usability challenges, particularly with the user interface and video uploading processes. Accents and specialized terminology can sometimes pose problems, but these instances are relatively rare. Overall, the sentiment towards Verbit is positive, with its benefits outweighing the drawbacks for most users. You will find it particularly helpful if you require efficient and reliable captioning, though be prepared to navigate occasional hiccups in usability and billing practices.
